The Glenlivet 18 Year Old
Color: Honey with orange and gold highlights
Nose: Clean, caramel, vanilla, honeyed, and malty
Flavor: Smooth, medium sweet with a light nutty vanilla taste
Finish: Mellow, clean, buttery, but brief
Score: 83 (Jan. 28, 2003)

Bowmore 17 Year Old
Color: Pale copper with golden aspects of straw, apricot, and amber
Nose: Full, pungent, and moderately smokey having creamy overtones of peat and salt along with a floral sweetness and spiciness.
Flavor: Complex, strong, full bodied, peaty, and slightly tangy with an additional pleasing mixture of malt, heather, pepper, spice, salt, and sweet tastes to intrigue the palate.
Finish: Long, lingering, mildly smokey, with a complex spirity touch of the sweet, salty, and spicy flavors.
Brief Comment: : An excellent complex Isla malt.

Balvenie 21 Year Old Portwood Finish
Color:
Light amber with honey highlights.
Nose:
A creamy buttery fruitiness with a very subtle hint of smokiness and spiciness
Flavor:
Quite complex, with a light honey toffee like sweetness and an herbal aspect having the slightest hint of the oak and port wood casks.
Finish:
Marvelous, lingering, and smooth with a mellow honey sweetness. It is enhanced by the experience of the slightest buttery smokiness.
Brief Comment:
A superb malt. The port wood finish creates a very subtle effect.

Laphroaig 15 Year Old
Color: A honey bronze with golden straw highlights.
Nose: Notably pungent, smokey, and peaty with traces of spice, straw and salt.
Flavor: Full-bodied, smooth, smokey, peaty and malty. Along with these basic dominant flavors it also has an elegant leafy nutty character.
Finish: Long, lingering, and smokily mellow with light tangy afterflavors of malt and salt.
Brief Comment: The classic Isla------ "liquid smoke".

Macallan 18 Year Old
Color: Reddish mahogany with dark copper undertones.
Nose: Dominant sherry and caramel with a fruity orange edge. It also has a sweet leafy suggestion of liquorice, nut, malt, and smoke.
Flavor: Full- bodied, smooth, sweet, with a very noticeable sherry taste having a complex oaky aspect. Additionally, it has pleasing caramel, spice, nut, and peat flavors.
Finish: Of medium length, with lingering smooth and mellow aftertastes of oak, spice, cream, and fruit.
Brief Comment: The effect of sherry cask aging is very pronounced.

Port Ellen 13 Year Old
Color: Pale Chardonnay wine with highlights of light straw.
Nose: Notable pear aroma accompanying a clean citrus, salty, floral aspect with light fruity tones of peat and smoke.
Flavor: Quite salty alongside a complex of pungent, smokey, peaty tastes accompanied by a light smooth mix of herbal, heathery, spicy flavors.
Finish: Clean and of medium length with a distinctive decrease of dry smokey, peaty, metallic tastes.
Brief Comment: This whisky invites one to sample the older Port Ellen's

Highland Park 18 Year Old
Color: Dark copper with mahogany highlights.
Nose: A distinct salty character accompanied by a fruity creamy complex of malt, nut, and spice.
Flavor: Complex and full with herbal, nutty, and salty tastes harmonizing with a light pleasing mix of oak, honey and smoke.
Finish: Quite long, lingering, spicy, and spirity with elegant elements of sweetness and peat smoke.
Brief Comment: One of the great malts!

Balvenie 15 Year Old
Color: A distinct amber with golden highlights of honey, copper, and bronze.
Nose: A pungent caramel scent having essences of honey and hay with light traces of a fruity smokiness.
Flavor: A complex creamy honey flavor along with toasty dry tinges of oak and smoke.
Finish: Quite long, lingering, and smokily mellow with a benign oaky edge.
Brief Comment: Another very good Balvenie.

Lagavulin 16 Year Old
Color: An amber mahogany hue with touches of dark honey, orange, and gold.
Nose: A decidedly aromatic smokey impact having a strong pungent peaty fragrance along with a complex lighter mix of spice, caramel, salt, and seaweed.
Flavor: A very distinctive peaty, smokey, and pungent taste with a zesty malt character, while at the same time creating a light smooth creamy hint of salt and the sea having trace elements of sweet and pepper.
Finish: Very long, lingering , and mellow with peaty nutty elements accompanied by faint traces of salt, spice and malt.
Brief Comment: Another of the great malts!

Balvenie 30 Year Old Vintage Cask It was from a limited edition of rare single malt whisky bottled from a single vintage cask Bottled Dec. 4, 1997 from cask number 1903, which was casked Feb. 14, 1966, and was bottle number 72 of a total of 168 bottles.
Color: A golden honey hue with an amber tinge of bronze and orange accompanied by a topaz sparkle.
Nose: A very distinct clean buttery caramel scent having an elegant fruity honey like aroma of pears and citrus. It also has very subtle tones of spice, smoke, peat, and nut.
Flavor:. An exquisite complex velvety smooth malt with an herbal rich and round taste coupled with a tinge of smokey clean elements of malt, chocolate, spice, and pepper.
Finish: Very long and lingering with buttery, nutty tones. As a superb complex very mature malt, it mingles subtle smooth and creamy components of coffee, peat, sweet fruit, and mellow oak while at the same time having a slight pleasing barb.
Brief Comment: A silky legato of a malt.
