Edradour 21 - 51.9% ABV

Color:

Amber with golden highlights.

Nose:

Rich and ruddy. Very sweet, creamy, and floral with a tangy aromatic pungency. Spice and vanilla.

Flavor:

Very complex spicy, creamy, caramel with elements of salt and bitter chocolate.

Finish:

Long, sweet, caramel. Smooth and complex with aspects of almond and salt.
Has a pungency changing to a gentle perfume.

           

Brief Comment:

A dram that makes a statement by smothering the taste buds in ecstasy. Asuperior malt with the Edradour signature.

Color:

Golden Amber and Honey

Nose:

Floral, sweet, vanilla, grassy hay

Flavor:

Quite sweet, spicy, oaky, herbal with touch of earth pungency

Finish:

Short to medium long. Elements of vanilla, caramel, oak, and spice

Brief Comment:

A nice middle of the road malt that competes well in its class

Abelour 12 Double Cask Matured

Color:

Golden Amber with elements of maple syrup and honey.

Nose:

Floral, sherry, caramel, and perfume.

Flavor:

Clean sweet sherry. Edgy and “hotish”  with hints of fruit, bitterness, and oak..

Finish:

Medium to short with a slightly sweet visceral aftertaste.

Brief Comment:

.Personality free malt. Drinkable, but also forgettable.

Color:

Pale straw

Nose:

Floral, sweet, clean, and light peat

Flavor:

Very sweet and creamy with an element of salt. Suggestions of English plum pudding, lime and fruit

Finish:

Medium long. Sweet and creamy. Faint components of spice, peat, and liqorice

Brief Comment:

Interesting but not arresting. A deceptive Isla------more like a Highland or a Speyside

Color:

Dark amber and light mahogany with honey overtones.

Nose:

Floral, sherry, evasive sweet syrup, and weakish vanilla.

Flavor:

Sherry, sweet cream, nuts, and vanilla with musty elements of dirt..

Finish:

Short to medium long with a bit of a harsh edge. Sweet elements of sherry and spice..

Brief Comment:

Pleasant and drinkable dram but lacks character and complexity.

Color:

Golden with highlights of amber and honey.

Nose:

Pepper, caramel, and oak. Floral with hints of sweet honey.

Flavor:

Incisive, full, powerful, pepper and peppermint accompanied by tinges of cream and malt.

Finish:

Quite long and lingering. Salty, sweet, and complex.

Brief Comment:

Very interesting excellent dram. Top shelf.

Color:

Golden honey and straw

Nose:

Sweet, floral, and vanilla. Limey citrus with elements of freshly boiled hot dogs

Flavor:

Slightly bitter with a gritty bite. Sweet, spicy, oaky, and malty. Hint of turbo charged citrus

Finish:

Medium length with an edgy creamy bitterness

Brief Comment:

OK, straightforward, decent, drinkable dram

Color:

Straw with golden glow.

Nose:

Vanilla, semi sweet chocolate, citrus , floral and spirity. Subtle, evasive.

Flavor:

Salt, vanilla, hint of cream. Elusive honeysuckle.

Finish:

Longish and spirity. Aspects of cream, muscatel, almonds, and butter.

Brief Comment:

A comfortable drinkable dram.

Color:

Light straw and Chardonnay

Nose:

Smokey, peaty, and sweet. Heather and a hint of citrus.

Flavor:

Mildly peaty with a flood of salt. Sweet, pungent, spicy, and smokey.

Finish:

Medium long and quite spicy with a sweet center. Tangy, smokey, with slightly bitter earthiness.

Brief Comment:

Ranges from Great Isla---- to nice dram -----to forgettable. (This particular dram is noticeably enhanced with the addition of water.
