The light copper, golden straw appeals to the senses that Lore is not just any Laphroaig. The color could match corn on the cob that's been microwaved or molten bronze with a shiny finish.
In addition to the obligatory smoke and peat that one expects from Islay's Laphroaig, there's a warm and sweet fragrenece that's remeniscent of caramel, toffee, vanilla, citrus, leather and grass.
The sweet and aromatic flavors of coffee, vanilla, and honey lead the way but eventually blend nicely with the subtle flavors of dust, cheerios, grass, hay and tonic water.
The finish has a subtle but pungent contingent consistenting of salt, smoke, and peat, but the real long story in the finish are the sweet aromatic flavors.
The Lore dram is a distinct expression of the characteristic Islay Laphroaig brand. It's been described everywhere from really good to one of the great whiskies of all time. It's robust and gentle all in one fell swoop. We definitely recommend tasting the Lore.
